Hey Reader,

“She’s full of herself. Too big for her boots. Just who does she think she is?”

But who else are we mean to be full of, my friend? The latest opinions fed to us by the techbro propaganda machine? The perfect tradwife the algorithm wants us to be? No thank you.

We can get new boots that fit us perfectly because of course we’ve outgrown the old ones.

And as for who we think we are, well, that’s a work in progress. We’re all figuring it out as we go.

“Just ignore her, she’s attention seeking.”

Yes, yes I am. Because I have bills to pay and a life to live, OH — and something important to share.

And so do you.

So this is a little love letter to the attention seekers. The tall poppies. The crabs on the brink of escaping from their sad little bucket of brine.

Most of those negative voices are coming from inside our own heads. And when we see them online, it’s usually projection — someone afraid to say what they mean, feeling some kind of way about it.

I would like to share two pearls of wisdom with you. One from the poet Hafiz and one from my husband.

First, Hafiz:

“I wish I could show you, when you are lonely or in darkness, the astonishing light of your own being.”

Write it out and stick it somewhere you can see it. I have.

Then, Joe:

“I wish you could see yourself the way I see you.”

Me too, my love. Me too.

And I wish those things for you also.

Because when we start to become full of ourselves, and we buy new boots, and we decide to figure out who we are, that’s when we can start to make wonderful things and have adventures and write brilliant books.

How about you?

If you’re ready to be full of yourself (and I bloody hope you are) I have 3 one-off 90-minute coaching slots in February that’ll give you everything you need to clarify your book idea, lay out your reader journey, outline your book, and make a plan.

Drop me a reply if you’re interested and I’ll send more details.

And be full of yourself please.

TTFN,

Vicky 🫡

After a very laid back December, I was all set to head into 2026 at maximum chill, but apparently Past Me didn’t get the memo because I spent the final two weeks of January back and forth to London twice and speaking at an event in Bristol, all of which was amazing and fun but hoooooooooooo-boy was I blaggered. Then my good friend Yinka sent her Mighty Movers email (exclusive to those of...

This is not rhetorical — I actually need to know, because getting it wrong has painful consequences. In conversation, we’re supposed to ask questions. We’re supposed to be interested in other people. I know this because I’ve been told many, many times over the years. And honestly, this isn’t a hardship for me because other people are endlessly fascinating to me. I’d like to...

Hey Reader, “Everyone kept asking the same questions!” I was talking to my client about how her “open house” for her membership was going, and she said it was going great but that everyone kept asking her the same questions. And it was making her laugh because the book she is currently writing with me is going to answer allll those questions — so it was a real nudge to get it finished and published. Since then she’s made a ton of...
