Hey Reader,

Me: I don’t have time to plant my winter seeds!

Also me: Doomscrolls Instagram for 20 minutes and hates self.

I’ve found, over the years, that it’s very rare I geniunely don’t have time to do something I want to do.

The problem is usually one of these:

  • I don’t know how to do the thing
  • I don’t know where to start
  • I don’t believe I’m any good at it
  • I’ve convinced myself I won’t enjoy it

So. When you say you don’t have time to write, do you really not have time to write? Or is it one of those four reasons? Or a secret fifth reason?

If it’s a secret fifth reason, hit reply and tell me because I’m nosy.

If it’s one of the four above, I can help you with that.

It’s exactly why I created January Uncaged.

I want writing to be something you want to do. Something you look forward to, that brings you joy. Most of the time, anyway.

It won’t take more than 20 minutes a day, unless you want to spend longer.

And I promise it will be fun.

I’ll be doing it alongside you, actually.

There won’t be “writing assignments” as such; I’ll be inviting you to partake of mini adventures of all kinds, on and off the page, and by the end of the 30 days you’ll have a new way of looking at the world, noticing things, and thinking.

And I hope we’ll reignite your creativity and start a practice you’ll keep up.

What you get:

  • Daily prompts (written, audio, or video) — less than 60 seconds to consume
  • Private Telegram group for support and cheerleading
  • 5-20 minutes of writing or adventuring per day
  • A body of work by the end of January
  • Group debrief call to celebrate what you’ve created
  • A sustainable practice that doesn't burn you out

The details:

  • Starts: January 6, 2026
  • Duration: 30 days
  • Investment: ÂŁ75 + VAT

But writing isn’t a solo sport. It kind of looks like it is, when you see a book or an article with one person’s name on the front. But then you turn to the acknowledgements and realise there’s a whoooooole lot of people involved in the creative process. My husband and my cats are integral to my...

If we can take some relatively simple and make it brutally difficult, we will. Like writing. We turn it into this god-bestowed gift that mere mortals are not supposed to posess. We treat it like something we should just be able to DO. Effortlessly. We talk about muses and inspiration and writers block and...

Fortunately it strikes every morning at nine o’clock sharp.” This is a quote I’m fond of sharing because it debunks a big myth about inspiration. Unfortunately, it also suggests success in writing is down to habits. Somerset Maugham was incredibly prolific and successful for a variety of reasons and one of them was that he started writing every morning at 9am BUT that wasn’t a...
