Reading time: 3.17 778 words Hey Reader, On Friday night I went to the Library of the Royal College of Surgeons to party. We celebrated Sophie Lee launching her book Beyond Palatable: A manifesto for unapologetic women. I am always so proud when a client launches their book. Always. This was no different and also it WAS a little different. The launch party was remarkable not just because of the wonderful book and author. Not just because of the incredible people in the room. But because it felt so incredibly hopeful. The world is a dumpster fire being ruined by rich old white men. But it will not endure because there are SO MANY of us working quietly to build something beautiful and safe and equitable and sustainable. There are determinec, passionate, powerful voices changing things with love and hope. There’s Sophie’s book, of course, which is genuinely IS a manifesto for unlearning all of our unhelpful conditioning, digging into ourselves to grow, and rolling up our sleeves to change the world. Voices like Yinka Ewuola, who spoke about the power of cash in the hands of women, because women don’t hoard wealth, we build communities and safe spaces and sustainable systems. And Kemi Gates, a spoken word artist who read her poem and moved us to tears and to action. And Tamu Thomas, who reminded us that if systems and people want us to shrink and shut up and they don’t like what we’re here to say and do: let them choke. Every single person in that room on Friday night is doing something remarkable, in their business or personal lives. Some are doing big, noisy, boisterous things. Others are quietly building foundations and planting gardens for the future. Every single one of us wants a safe, equitable, sustainable, beautiful world for ALL of us. It’s important to remember the Internet distorts everything and there is real work being done in real rooms offline. This is some of that work and I am so honoured and privileged to be part of it. The work I do is about making sure voices like Sophie’s are heard. The work I do turns people’s messages and missions into movements. It has never been more important to raise your voice above the noise of the internet. If you want to go loud and unheard, scream online. If you want to reach people, write a book. That’s how I can help. So if you’re ready to raise your voice and truly reach people, get in touch.
