Reading time: 2.32 601 words Hey Reader, Did you know the Business Book Awards has a category for short books? It does — and I found out yesterday that three of my past MicroBook Magic authors are among the entries! The shortlist is revealed on Tuesday, so I’m currently vibrating with excitement waiting to find out if they make the cut. I’m probably biased, but each one of them deserves to win. Laura Chamberlain told me all about it on our coaching call (yes, she came back to work with me on her next book) — and I’m really chuffed that Brilliantly Bouncy is up for an award. Laura told me her biggest struggle was to de-academic her writing and let her own voice shine through. Well, with Brilliantly Bouncy she achieved that in bucketloads. It’s such a lovely book about what resilience really is and you should definitely check it out. The other entries are Sophie Blackmore’s It’s Only Bloody Marketing which is very funny and very specifically aimed at tech founders but I thought it was super useful for any business owner. Which is the magic of knowing your reader, really. You point it directly at them and they’ll love it… but other readers will scoop it up along the way and love it too. Everything Sophie does is a lot of fun so you should also check out her book here. And finally Janine Coombes’s The Easy Yes which is, like her, a lot of fun. Janine’s whole mission is to help people make sales more easily and without sounding and feeling like a crazed used-car salesman. I loved her book because it genuinely helped me do the thing that so many of us really hate to do. So, yeah, if you’d like to make more sales and feel less icky about it, you should definitely be picking up Janine’s book. And look. Of course it’s exciting to see your book up for an award, and if they win it’ll be UH-MAZ-ING… but if they don’t win, these books will still be brilliant. They’ll still make their authors proud every single day. And they’ll continue to help the people who need them and read them. As do all the books that come out of MicroBook Magic. Which is into its 8th cohort this time round, starting on April 27. I’ve been talking about it for a while now with the doors ajar for anyone who wants to sneak in early. One VIP spot has already gone. I’ll be flinging the doors open WIDE on Monday but the bonuses will have evaporated by then.
